L'ile de Madeleine. We didn't swim at this exact spot but the other side was much calmer.

Welcome to my journal which will follow my 6 months working in Cameroon. Already it has documented 9 months studying and living in Senegal. I have decided to continue using the "tilly hat" as the basis of my documentation (whether or not it is in the pictures, it will be with me). My grandpa gave it to my older sister who brought it to Costa Rica, I brought it to Senegal, my "grandma" Susan brought it to Tanzania, and now it crosses the globe once again, for Cameroon.

So great to hear your voice tonight! Your blog looks great, I sent it on to LOTS of people so they will have your update.
Grandpa will love knowing that his hat is on such a grand Safari.
Sorry to hear of your stomach upset - hope this is the first & LAST for a while at least!
Love you lots
Mom
Sara,
Reading your blog with my morning coffee made me feel like I was part of the Senegalese culture! Amazing photo as well. Stay healthy!

Loving the photo.
Sara --
How great to experience Senegal through your eyes. I'm jealous. Truly.
Just after Jim and I saw you at the restaurant in Stillwater we were in NYC riding in a cab with a Senegalese driver. Jim told him about your upcoming trip and he talked at some length about what a wonderful experience you would have. Sounds like he was right.
I'm so glad that you are enjoying your host family. Do you feel your French improving everyday, or do they want to practice their English with you? By the time you return you'll be tri-lingual! Very impressive.
The leaves have turned and the temps have dropped. Hearing about your sunburn makes me long for the summer. It went too fast.
Take care. Dee
